Experience
I earned a California teaching credential in Biological Sciences and will soon be approved to teach in the state of Maryland as well. My teaching experience includes three years of working full-time at Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana, CA. While teaching as MDHS, I taught both Biology and Marine Bio. During my time there, I also assisted in revamping the curriculum in both those subjects. This process led to new textbooks, a new technological focus, better science laboratories, and experiments that incorporated hands-on learning. In addition, I helped design an Internet database to hold resources and lessons plans to make collaborative efforts between teachers easier. Since MDHS is an Apple Distinguished school, I was able to hone my ability to use, teach, and troubleshoot technology on a regular basis. Before this, I worked at the Dana Point Ocean Institute teaching marine science and history to students ranging from preschool to college age during field trips. This experience taught me to use hands-on activities to help students really understand the material. I have a great desire to assist students in their academic success. My ultimate goal is to instill a love of science as well and a lifelong desire to learn.
